2022 UKHC Speakers: Martin S Taylor –

Martin S Taylor

Martin S Taylor will be presenting “Stage Hypnosis – Theory and Practice” at this year’s UK Hypnosis Convention. Martin became interested in hypnosis in 1980, and gave a lecture-demonstration at Imperial College in 1981. This was so successful he was invited back repeatedly. Word spread, and he has performed regularly (and, for the last 30 years, professionally) at numerous universities and schools. Eschewing the ‘trance’ model of stage hypnosis, Martin gives a lecture-demo rather than a show, explaining to audiences that the effects are produced almost exclusively through suggestion, peer pressure, and obedience. In this presentation, he will be explaining his philosophy of stage hypnosis, and the mechanisms by which it works. He’ll talk about the structure of a stage hypnosis act and how to make it entertaining, and he will also talk about the mechanism of hypnosis as practised on stage – something which he hopes will be useful to therapists as well as potential entertainers. Hear from him in this video…
