Alyx Taylor

Presented by

Dr Alyx Taylor

Dr Taylor’s current research is aimed at helping people to improve their physical and mental health using health-promoting behaviour and/or psychological interventions. The interventions of particular interest include physical activity, sleep hygiene, cognitive behavioural therapy, meditation and hypnotherapy. Dr Taylor first graduated in biochemistry from the Queen Elizabeth College, University of London and became interested in the links between neuroendocrinology and psychology which led to her PhD studies at Imperial, examining possible long-term effects on child development. Her appreciation of the link between mental and physical health led her to study psychology and train as a hypnotherapist. She currently uses a range of interventions to help adults manage anxiety and stress response and support health-behaviour change. She also works with schools to help children manage symptoms of long-term conditions to improve cognitive and behavioural function. She is Research Leader for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
