Garry Coles

Presented by

Garry Coles

The presentation will guide participants through the process of carrying out empirical evidenced-based research into hypnosis. It will explain the different types of research approaches available and how to choose the most appropriate. The requirements of robust research will be examined. The research journey from inception to publishing will be explained using the presenter’s own experience of carrying out hypnosis research in the oncology arena as a guide.

With over 18 years' experience as a full-time hypnotherapist, Garry is one of a small number in the UK to hold an MSc in Clinical Hypnotherapy, for which he carried out research into the effects of presurgical hypnosis on the recovery quality in breast cancer operations. Garry is contracted to a major NHS hospital for oncology-based hypnotherapeutic work, where he consults on a regular basis, in addition to practicing from within a local GP surgery.
