Life-long dieters have been infantilised. Their learned behaviours keep them in a perpetual state of fear. Fear of food, giving up dieting, even having to choose their own foods. Every life-long dieter wants to give up but doesn’t know how.
This presentation will guide you through the discoveries and successes we have uncovered during the first year of The Real Me programme. It will give you the structure, tools and understanding to put together a hypnotherapy-based weight loss course that will meet the needs of anyone whose life has been taken over by dieting.
There will also be a successful case study participant (a non-hypnotherapist) present to answer any questions you may have about what will and won’t work for your clients.
Julie is a clinical hypnotherapist and professional classical singer. She trained with Adam Eason and in her first year of practice worked with over 100 singers on her Hypnotherapy for Performance programme. As a life-long dieter she had always searched for the thing that would work and after reading about the new weight loss drugs and wondering if the same effects could be achieved with a virtual weight loss jab she trialled a 6 week course based around simple hypnotherapy techniques. After 6 months 3 of the original trial participants including Julie have all together lost almost 10 stones in weight.

Therapy metaphors use stories or tales to offer one or more perspectives of a situation. Stories are nothing new. Every culture has a history of using metaphors. Yet, as children or adults, we tend to relax when we listen to a story. After all, it is just a story.
From a therapy perspective, clients can connect to different aspects of the metaphor to take what is most appropriate. They can be used to help clients understand concepts, challenge or establish a belief, offer alternatives, and give a symbolic interpretation for the client to connect to.
This session will explore different styles of therapeutic metaphors and delivery methods. Then, we will dive into a tried and tested 5 step process for creating therapeutic metaphors. Participants will then get to create their own therapeutic metaphor.
Dr Kate Beaven-Marks is an enthusiastic, experienced clinical hypnotist, trainer, presenter and author. Her far-reaching knowledge, extensive studies, and research are applied in professional settings and a busy hypnotherapy practice. She is passionate about the hypnotherapy profession and raising education standards. Founder of both HypnoTC and Hypnosis-Courses, as well as teaching EMDR and hypnotherapy, she is a sought-after clinical supervisor and has an active role on the Profession Specific Board for Hypnotherapy with the CNHC.

Pain is a complex language our bodies use to signal issues. Acute pain is like a clear warning sign, directing immediate action. Chronic pain is an ambiguous distress call, signalling an unspecified problem. OldPain2Go attempts to decipher the true intent behind chronic pain, empowering individuals to make informed decisions. Through understanding and choosing the appropriate action, the necessity for the pain message ceases, bringing about instant relief. You can help people break free from unnecessary suffering and gain clarity on their path forward.
Steven is the creator of OldPain2Go, a methodology for helping people become free of chronic pain. It works by discovering the cause of why the pain alarm has stuck on and having the brain reassess the need for pain based on updated criteria, providing instant and lasting relief. Many hypnotherapists have trained in OldPain2Go so far of the 1,700 practitioners trained worldwide since 2016.

In 2019, I managed to fulfil a long-held ambition to be a speaker at a TEDx event.
My talk was entitled ‘How To Stop Feeling Anxious About Anxiety’.
The talk has since had 2.6 million views and has been pivotal in advancing my progress towards being regarded as an expert in the field of anxiety therapy.
However, the journey wasn’t a smooth one.
It took three years to get accepted as a speaker and over 6 months to prepare and refine the talk so that TED would accept it, and the event itself was one of the most challenging and rewarding tasks I have ever completed. However, the real drama began once the talk was over.
In this presentation, I will offer access all areas and behind-the-scenes insight into what it is like to prepare and deliver a TEDx talk: the hoops I had to jump through, the things I had to learn along the way, and also how an ex-social anxiety sufferer managed to overcome the challenge of remembering and delivering an 18 minute scripted talk to a crowd of 300.
I’ll also describe the impact it has had on me personally and professionally as a result of that 18 minutes being seen by millions of people.
Tim Box is a mind coach and remedial hypnotist who has successfully run a flourishing full time therapeutic practice for the last 13 years. In 2015, Tim created his own method of hypnotherapy called The CONTROL System and now trains this method, with more than 125 fully qualified CONTROL Practitioners seeing clients globally. Tim regularly delivers talks on hypnosis and mindset, including a TEDx talk which has now had more than 2.5 million views.

Hypnosis and EFT offer a powerful combination that not only supports clients during sessions but also empowers them with tools for self-management. Incorporating spiritual hypnosis into this blend enhances the therapeutic experience by tapping into deeper, often subconscious spiritual elements that contribute to holistic healing. This synergistic approach facilitates a profound therapeutic alliance between therapist and client, fostering a relationship grounded in mutual respect and self-responsibility
By actively engaging clients in their healing process, these practices promote sustained personal growth, emotional resilience, and spiritual awakening. Ultimately, this approach leads to greater freedom and empowerment for clients, unlocking new paths to personal well-being and enabling individuals to navigate life’s challenges with enhanced confidence, clarity, and a deeper connection to their spiritual selves.

The NLP Swish Pattern is perhaps the most popular and well-known NLP process because of its simplicity and its effectiveness.
However, it’s also one of the most misunderstood techniques in addition to being most often taught incorrectly even by renowned NLP teachers. In this presentation, you will understand why this pattern doesn’t work when it doesn’t and you’ll understand why it works when it does so that you can get predictable, rather than haphazard, results from it.
When you understand that the power behind a properly executed Swish Pattern is that it’s a piece of identity work, you’ll fully access the advantage of having this NLP process in your practice. Not only will you be able to break bad habits in just minutes; the positive changes you swish into your mind will generalize to all areas of your life.
Damon Cart excels in teaching transformative techniques at the identity level, fostering greater confidence and a fulfilling life. His approach focuses on evolving into the person you desire to be, creating a life you want, rather than just chasing goals. This method leads to predictable and satisfying transformations, making goal achievement more effortless and rewarding. As the only person endorsed by Steve Andreas to teach the Self-Concept Model, Damon shares his impactful strategies on his YouTube channel, aiding over 85,000 subscribers in attaining their goals and finding deeper fulfillment.

A great hypnotherapist draws knowledge from various sources and adapts it to therapeutic processes.
I combined one of the elements of Hawaiian Huna healing techniques with hypnotherapeutic forgiveness techniques.
Effect?
It provides much greater relief for clients with a more transparent and understandable process.
My key was an in-depth analysis of the scientific approach to the human psyche, hundreds of hypnotherapy sessions conducted in which the element of forgiveness was included, and the principles followed by Hawaiian kahunas.
After many successes, I shared my discovery with my partner.
Together, we have improved this technique and created a version that is probably the first in the world to be a “joint self-hypnosis” technique for couples (and pairs of people in other relationships), which can also be used for hypnotherapy in the office.
Let me teach you this technique step by step and the most important principles I have accumulated over the years.
Principles, the understanding of which will give you knowledge about what determines the effectiveness of the forgiveness process in hypnotherapy.
As a bonus, you’ll also get a version of this technique that you can use to strengthen your mental muscles.
Invited many times as a presenter to the most important universities in Poland, to the largest polish radio and TV stations, to 6 different international hypnosis conventions and to the most successful commercial companies. Over the last 20+ years as a change-worker, I have been known to do some crazy s**t.
In other words, say and do things with clients that many therapists might claim are outrageous, stupid or downright “unprofessional”.
However, I have a strong sense of ethics and integrity in this profession, and sometimes, being willing to prod, poke and do the outrageous and unthinkable can sometimes be the thing that creates change.
For example, would you ever agree with a client that they SHOULD NOT take responsibility for their issue and instead should do a RAIN-DANCE around the office to let the GODS of CHANGE alter someone else?
Would you ever have considered that getting someone to imagine at the end of a session that “it definitely won’t work and you’ve absolutely wasted your money” might be the best thing?
Or would you ever ask people to go away and spend 3 hours at the weekend trying to control the sea (and get them to send video evidence to prove they did it)?
I share both stories of outrageous change from my years of working with real clients and hope to ignite a curiosity to become more dramatic and playful in your future therapeutic encounters.
Howard Cooper is known for helping people create RAPID shifts in their thinking and over the last 20 plus years he has worked with 1000s of individuals. He rejects the notion that deep & lasting change has to take a long time and, over the years he's seen some incredible transformations. He has worked on 'Virgin Atlantic's Flying Without Fear' course, writes magazine columns, talks about change on LBC and even hosts his own podcast (Rapid Change Matters) to name a few. All this has gone into the 'melting pot' that is Howard's experience which he is now keen to share with others in the business.

In 2006 one of my best friends I’d known since School hung himself, out of nowhere it seemed, which hit me hard, as my cousin had done the same years earlier.
I can only describe it as being hit by a double decker bus in the face, and again, every time you think of them. Nothing seemed to alleviate the grief, I tried loads of different therapies, even contacting my friends in the Police who have to deal with these cases a lot.
Since losing these two people suddenly, I became obsessed about learning how to process this sudden shock.
And the things I found that work, that I use with my clients regularly, I’m going to share with you (if you make the right decision to choose my presentation!)
I’m also going to do a live demonstration healing someone’s traumatic grief who hasn’t been able to process their grief for a number of years, and do a group Guided Visualisation for attendees that may have lost someone but wanted to feel a connection or communicate with them on a metaphorical, unconscious or spiritual level.
Like last year, I will handle everything with humility, kindness and integrity.

When creating programs for your clients, it’s important to remember that you always want to create as much extra value for them as possible. Adding audio hypnosis recordings to support your live sessions is a way to do this. But you don’t need to limit this by only offering the classic passive recordings. In this talk Rob will explain a special type of recording to be used while walking.
The best part is that your clients can decide how they want to use the hypnotic recordings you design – whether they prefer passive listening while sitting down or walking while listening to a hypnosis program geared towards self-improvement. Walking will give them extra benefits towards their health and for your weight-loss clients towards getting the desired result even faster.
Rob is also running a full-day workshop Unlock the Power of Rapid Hypnosis on the Monday following the event. Tickets can be purchased online here.
Rob De Groof, an award-winning trainer and one of Europe's foremost hypnotists, commands a significant presence in the field with the successful HypnosisCentre.be in Belgium. Collaborating with a team of hypnotherapists across four cities, his leadership extends to the European Hypnosis Academy, where he has educated nearly a thousand students in the art of direct hypnosis. Rob's dedication to preserving the techniques and approach of his mentor, the late Jeffrey Stephens, underscores his commitment to excellence in hypnotherapy. Additionally, he serves as a trainer for renowned programs like Sheila Granger's Virtual Gastric Band, Bob Burns'' The Swan, and the Dave Elman Hypnosis Institute. His contributions to the field are further highlighted by his authorship of 'Mentalism for Hypnotherapists' and his role as the presenter of the online show 'The Art of Simple Hypnosis'. Innovating within the discipline, Rob has developed unique hypnosis protocols, including HypnoFasting, Hypnosis4Golfers, Stop4Ever, and Hypnotic Breast Enlargement. April 2022 marked the release of his latest book, 'Stop It!', further establishing his influence and expertise. Recently, Rob launched AudioHypnosis.online, a revolutionary platform aimed at making hypnosis accessible worldwide. This endeavor offers audio hypnosis MP3s for 100 different issues in 20 languages, reflecting Rob's vision of making high-quality hypnotherapy available globally.

Would you like to speak the language of your client’s unconscious mind?
Symbols and metaphors are among the most important ways the unconscious mind communicates. Most therapists try to interpret those messages. David Grove did something different. Instead of trying to understand the meaning of his clients’ symbols, he used those symbols to bring about change. The model of his work is called “Clean Language”, as the therapist’s influence is minimal.
This presentation is about my way of using Clean Language in hypnosis – something I jokingly call “Dirty” Clean Language. I will teach you how to elicit your client’s personal symbols and metaphors, how to use them to enhance resource states, and how to use them to help the clients solve their problems. You will also learn my simple method of using symbols as a homework assignment to generalize the change outside the therapy room.
The methods you will learn may be used to enrich your hypnotic way of working or as a system on its own. As always, my presentation will be all meat, no fat (yes, that was a metaphor ;)), with a demo to show how those techniques work.
I am an MD, a psychiatrist, an NLP Trainer certified by Richard Bandler, Chris Hall and John Overdurf. I have been using hypnosis and NLP in my clinical practice since 1998 and teaching it since 2000. I specialize mostly in Ericksonian and Conversational Hypnosis.

One of the more impressive research-informed applications of hypnosis within sports and athletic performance is its ability to alter the perception of and then mobilise effort. Combining this with the self-hypnosis protocol being utilised within the Bournemouth University psychology laboratories, we have been teaching individuals how to apply self-hypnosis in an active alert fashion to increase strength and mobilise effort.
This is incredibly useful for clients recovering from injuries, experiencing convalescence and going through rehabilitation who benefit just as greatly as those seeking to advance athletic performance.
As well as explaining the evidence base, delivering the theoretical framework and sharing the full protocol used in our research and in clinical practice with clients, I will also offer some personal demonstrations (with a heavily loaded barbell) and a range of practical exercises anyone present can also utilise for their own benefit and strength improvement there and then. The protocol and theory are not restricted; they can also be applied and used to aid in a variety of clinical applications.
Adam is a psychology lecturer and researcher at Bournemouth University as well as founding Principal of the Anglo European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis. He is author of the Science of Self-Hypnosis book and his other publications include the first ever meta-analysis and systematic review of clinical applications of self-hypnosis to be published in a peer reviewed journal. He uses self-hypnosis to advance his own athletic performance in the strength and fitness events he regularly competes in.

The presentation will focus on how a narcissist operates and the devastating effect it has on the empath (their victim). The Clash’s 1980s hit single, ‘Should I stay or should I go’ and the chorus; ‘Should I stay or should I go now? If I go, there will be trouble. And if I stay, it will be double’. epitomizes the terrible dilemma faced by the person who is being gaslit. I will use case studies to demonstrate how we can help the empath and suggest practical treatments to improve self-esteem and confidence. I will support my presentation with evidence and studies to determine that narcissists have insight into their personality and reputation. I will show why narcissists rarely change, mostly because they don’t want to because they choose their lifestyle due to their lack of self-awareness. I will help dispel why some research shows that if narcissists received true feedback, they would change.
I will help the audience to recognize the signs that their client maybe is an empath. They are gradually caught like a fly in a spider’s web, allowing the gaslighter to begin their controlling behaviour then. There can be obvious tell-tale signs like the narcissist dictating where and with whom they socialize.

Richard Hill collaborated with Ernest Rossi (2005-2020), the main collaborator with Milton Erickson (1970-1980). Richard carries on the legacy of Rossi’s key contribution to hypnotherapy – the Mirroring Hands practice and approach. Rossi and Hill have taken Erickson’s non-directive ideas to a higher level, producing a gentle and sensitive practice yet profoundly effective and transformative. Mirroring Hands is the purest expression of what is now called “creative responsiveness”, where therapist and client engage to maximise the client’s natural problem-solving and capacities to heal dynamically with mind and body.
Every Mirroring Hands experience is different and totally responsive to the client at that moment. Consequently, there are no scripts, formulas or procedural steps beyond the initial phase of creating the appropriate circumstances for the client to explore their own capacities. It is often a surprise to learn that when focusing on the hands, the therapist never asks the client to close their eyes or relax or go into trance – the client does all these things for themselves, at the perfect time for them.
Come and feel the experience. Then you will know.
Richard Hill, MA, MEd, MBMSc, PhD(c) is a practicing psychotherapist/counsellor, an author, educator, and professional supervisor. The connection between values and authenticity is profound and integral to one’s sense of self. Values serve as the guiding principles that shape an individual’s beliefs, behaviours, and choices. When individuals align their actions with their core values, they experience authenticity and congruence between their inner beliefs and outward expressions, increasing self-esteem and confidence.
When a person’s actions and decisions are in harmony with their values, they feel a sense of integrity and purpose. On the contrary, if there’s a misalignment between actions and values, individuals may experience internal conflict and dissonance.
In the therapeutic context, encouraging clients to explore and identify their core values becomes a powerful tool for fostering authenticity. Through values clarification exercises, individuals can gain clarity about what truly matters to them. This process empowers them to make choices that align with their authentic selves, leading to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Moreover, therapists who are aware of their own values and practice authenticity in their professional lives create a genuine and trusting therapeutic relationship.
As a dedicated hypnotherapist, I help individuals overcome challenges, unlocking their potential for a joyous life. With over fifteen years experience, I've witnessed countless transformations, having overcome corporate anxiety myself. Leaving the rat race in 2009, I dedicated myself to improving my knowledge. In 2018 I graduated with an MSc in consciousness, spirituality and transpersonal psychology. Personally, a foodie, mother, and nature lover, my values align with a holistic lifestyle. Professionally, I advocate for children's rights and emphasise respect for every individual. My work blends research and open-mindedness as an evidence-based intuitive approach, with a strong focus on reconnection with nature as a healing modality.

About 1 in 100 to 1 in 36 people are autistic. This means every person in clinical practice will likely encounter diagnosed and undiagnosed autistic clients. Over 70% of autistic people experience mental health challenges, especially anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. When autistic clients do present in therapy sessions they usually have a marked difference in the way they perceive the world and respond to questions, interactions and presented techniques.
In this presentation, I share how learning hypnosis transformed my life from first encountering hypnosis and the wrong reasons I wanted to study the topic, through to discovering that since childhood I had already been using hypnotic techniques without realising it and on to the a-ha moment that was truly life-changing that offered me the tools to navigate the seemingly alien world I inhabited.
My presentation will not only delve into my personal story with hypnosis but also offer insights from my professional experience working with autistic individuals in therapeutic settings. From understanding their unique perspectives and how they can respond differently to techniques and interactions and common traits and how these can present as strengths and challenges.
Autistic hypnotherapy trainer Dan Jones began working in mental health in 1997 before transitioning to working with families and now mainly shares knowledge online. His interest in hypnosis started in 1993. He has been a hypnotherapist since 2001 and hypnotherapy trainer since 2004. Parts therapy is a powerful, advanced approach to hypnotherapy that allows the resolution of inner conflicts within the human mind. Whenever there are conflicting emotions, thoughts, beliefs, experiences and other psychological forces, more common approaches, such as direct suggestions, age regression, reframing, etc., are usually insufficient to provide long-term transformation.
In this presentation, you will learn how parts therapy helps to identify these conflicting forces, gain a deeper insight into their true purpose, and mediate between them to find the best solution for the client. You will also learn how to identify and utilise useful parts as valuable resources to achieve goals.
Sinisa Kruska is a Hypnotherapist and Mind Coach who works internationally with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds on their personal development and the promotion of physical, emotional and mental health. Originally trained in the natural sciences, he has expanded his knowledge into the fields of human mind, behaviour and spirituality. From an early age, he has been researching and applying various holistic healing modalities, integrating modern scientific knowledge with the ancient spiritual teachings of various traditions. What is spiritual growth? When it comes to looking at spiritual growth, this can be a process of someone’s development and move forward to having a better understanding of oneself. It means that people are willing to look in at themselves and understand who they are and what they can become as one. It teaches us how to forgive ourselves and our past life with a deeper meaning of moving on with everything around us. We have a deeper understanding of others with empathy, appreciation and being mindful. This is a journey to connect to myself as a whole person and also to the energy around me. To connect with the universe and spirit. This is a very personal journey to have a deeper understanding of beliefs and awareness of oneself. It is my understanding that a person has 7 different journeys to overcome before they can be as one and be whole as a person. The beginning will always be denial of their spiritual growth, in the middle this is where someone wants to move on, but can find it hard to look at themselves and ending this is where someone has fully accepted everything that has been going on beforehand and in the present and also takes responsibility and areas of their life. As a therapist, this can be very interesting to watch some move forward.
Frances is also an accredited Hypnotherapist. Having studied and trained in London with HypnoTC under the expert guidance of the internationally renowned Hypnotherapist, Dr Kate Beavan-Marks and Hypnotherapist, Author and Hypnosis Trainer Rory Z Fulcher. Most recently Frances has studied a course for Menopause Wellbeing with Sally Garozzo to help Frances have a better understanding of what Menopause is and the effects that it has on women of all ages. A life long advocate of Hypnosis / Hypnotherapy, Frances has used Hypnotherapy and Hypnobirthing techniques within her own life challenges. This has enabled her to combine my own experiences and beliefs in the techniques with her clients are taught. Adopting a bespoke approach to each any every client, Frances have developed a range of sessions which will support clients in both achieving their personal aims and objectives as well as improving mental wellbeing and positivity but also using the core condition of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard for the client.

There are stable individual differences in the ability to alter subjective experience in accordance with one’s goals: the capacity for phenomenological control. Trait differences in this ability have historically most commonly been measured by response to direct, verbal imaginative suggestion within the context of hypnosis. However, phenomenological control does not require hypnosis and does not require direct verbal imaginative suggestion (e.g., mesmerism, a historical precursor to hypnosis, involved response to implicit, non-verbal suggestion). In this talk, I will discuss the measurement of trait differences in phenomenological control and summarise some recent work investigating the hypothesis that phenomenological control underlies unusual experiences in a wide range of situations besides hypnosis. That is, in various contexts, people may draw on cues to form beliefs about experiences they could have, and then generate the required experience through phenomenological control. These include suggestive cues in psychological experiments (‘demand characteristics’), ‘viral’ internet-based cues (e.g., for ‘ASMR’ experiences of tingling on the head), anomalous experiences (e.g., of past lives).
Dr Peter Lush is a research fellow in cognitive psychology in the Centre for Consciousness Science at the University of Sussex. His main research interest is phenomenological control: the capacity to generate experience in accordance with one’s goals. His current work in this area is focused on investigating the use of phenomenological control in a variety of different contexts including in response to experimental demand characteristics (contextual cues which convey experimental aims to participants). In this same line of research he has previously worked on mechanisms supporting apparent experiences of involuntariness in response to imaginative suggestion in a hypnotic context and on the development of scales for measuring response to imaginative suggestion within and outside the hypnotic context.

The best we can give children is to help them build strong soft skills.
As hypnotists and parents we’ve developed a set of fairy tales which help children build up their values and beliefs and manage emotions.
These stories are hypnotic inductions combined with metaphors and many other tools, which deliver special gifts for little ones – courage, self-confidence, peacefulness, concentration, openness, mental wealth, fun, independence and patience.
During my presentation I am going to share the structure of tales as well as deliver some extras, that anyone can use to help children become stronger, and fill the gap which formal education leaves.

Physical pain relief is arguably the most effective use of hypnosis. If your client suffers ongoing pain, any other issues they are facing will worsen. Hypnotic pain relief is so powerful that, in clinical studies, it is effective for even low-suggestible clients. Opioid blockers can block acupuncture- or placebo-based relief, but not hypnotic pain relief. Dr. Mau will demonstrate practical techniques you can use immediately with your clients and describe the neurological basis of pain relief. Hypnosis is a standard of care process in the US – not complimentary or alternative – treatment for physical pain, which can be safely and ethically administered by consulting hypnotists. You can understand it and do it!
In 2017 Fredric Mau, D.Min., M.A. M.Div., LPCS, LPC, was asked to present on hypnotic pain relief for the South Carolina Workers'; Compensation Educational Association. This highlighted the need for nonpharmacological pain relief, and led Dr. Mau to create a two-day training for physicians and related professionals which has been provided through the Medical University of SC as well as hospitals. This began as a personal story of infirmity and healing.

In this presentation, I will delve into the evolution of my hypnotherapy techniques, inspired by my unconventional journey that started with street hypnosis. Learning out on the streets of Belfast by sticking people’s feet to the floor developed a unique perspective on hypnosis and became the foundation for my therapeutic approach. Over time, I’ve seamlessly integrated additional professional training, resulting in a distinctive method I am eager to share with the audience.
Illustrating the development process, I will share anecdotes and specific instances from my street hypnosis encounters, shedding light on the pivotal moments that shaped my therapeutic techniques. This journey has honed my skills and allowed me to seamlessly fuse street hypnosis flair with formal training, creating a fun methodology that stands out in the field.
I will show some street hypnosis video clips to offer insights into where specific therapeutic techniques have come from and provide context for the audience.
I will also demonstrate one or more of the techniques on a willing participant. I want this presentation to be interactive, for people to discuss and question my way of working to understand how they can use it.
I have used hypnosis for the last 14 years and for 7.5 years have been a full-time hypnotist performing change work. Starting as a hobby, it developed into Street Hypnosis before moving to paid hypnosis entertainment. It was only a matter of time before I was asked to help people change their lives with hypnosis and so I started to train in that area, eventually making it my full-time career.

Complex trauma is one of those “dirty words’’ within the hypnotherapy community of practice… Skilful, experienced practitioners, however, recognise the effectiveness of hypnosis with a wide range of manifestations of complex trauma in body and mind….
During this session I will present a ‘success recipe’ for working with complex trauma, using a blend of tools and techniques drawn from Transactional Analysis Redecision Therapy, Gestalt, Transpersonal Psychotherapy, shamanic practices, family systems – parts work, CBT, RTT, NLP, mindfulness and more.
We will look into how classical tools from talk therapy may be refined and ‘marinated’ in the powerful catalyst of hypnotic states, multiplying and fast-tracking the therapeutical effectiveness of i.a.: inner child work, reparenting, cognitive reframe, redecision, catharsis, accelerating behavioural changes.
Rewiring the brain through daily repetition under hypnosis shows effectiveness, especially through the consolidation of the freshly forming neural pathways, supporting the revised and updated cognitive-emotional-behavioural patterns that replace the archaic, outdated trauma responses.
The presentation will be enhanced by a number of case studies and a short live demo.
You will leave this session with a renewed perspective on the therapeutical value of hypnosis, and with an enriched toolbox, now refreshed with a practical process for working with complex trauma that proved effective in hundreds of cases, working online.

Hypnosis can be considered a state of heightened suggestibility where the hypnotist communicates directly with the subconscious of a subject without the interference from the conscious mind.
Self-hypnosis involves the same principles but without the guidance of another person. As such, an individual can put him- or herself into a state of hypnosis with the aid of different techniques. As
with “hetero-hypnosis”, or hypnosis induced by a hypnotist, the subject only enters into the hypnotic state when s/he is ready to do so and then controls the response to suggestions.
As a form of hypnosis, that is self-induced, self-hypnosis makes use of self-suggestion and requires motivation to change and a carefully crafted script that is based on a well-defined goal. It also makes use of progressive imagery to induce a deep hypnotic state to subdue the conscious mind and allow direct access to the subconscious. Importantly, accept that self-hypnosis does not work for everybody, at least not initially. Prepare properly, be willing to focus your attention and be patient.

Association for Humanitarian Hypnosis is a group of hypnotherapists, former war journalists and ex-humanitarians believing hypnosis can support and maintain the mental health and psychosocial well-being of humanitarian workers and civilians in crisis.
The organisation’s target audiences are: Humanitarian institutions; Humanitarian personnel, Refugees and migrants. Its strategic goal is to make hypnosis accepted as a mental health tool in trauma-responsive peace-building and humanitarian organisations.
We worked with international organisations such as the International Red Cross, the UN peacekeeping force, NGOs, and individuals. We tested approaches and now have a wealth of knowledge we can apply in different settings.

Leading coach, consultant, researcher & speaker. More entrepreneurship, more freedom, more innovation and creativity. These were the things I wanted to achieve, when I started my own business as a coach, consultant, therapist and expert in 1998. Prior to that, after studying social sciences and doing field research, I spent 15 years at the Red Cross as a delegate, program officer and department head responsible for staff recruitment and leadership, strategy processes, training and funding. Later, as an expert, I advised several European companies and organizations, such as DaimlerChrysler, DHL, Swisscom, UBS AG or the German and Swiss governments. Since 1991, I have conducted over 15,000 solution-focused sessions as a trainer, coach and therapist. For the past ten years I have been helping people at work to achieve maximum performance with maximum well-being. I am also an active part of the pioneering Hypno-Science Project at the University of Zurich as well as a board member of the Swiss Professional Association for Hypnotherapy. Three years ago I was a co-founder of the Association for Humanitarian Hypnosis, an organisation, which uses hypnosis for support and preservation of the mental health and psychosocial well-being of people responding to humanitarian needs and the civilian population in conflict zones.

Anxiety in teenagers often shows itself in various ways, from sleeping problems to panic attacks and depression, from stomachaches to school refusal.
Due to a rise in social media use over the past 20 years and the pandemic on top, we see the number of teenagers suffering from anxiety rising in most countries across Europe and the US.
So, we can all be sure that we will face some form of mental health issue in our daily work as hypnotherapists sooner or later.
By attending the talk, you will get an insight into how to use the power of visualization combined with the strength of a hypnotic flow induced by movement. I will explain a powerful way to address teenage anxiety and how I support them to get back into a feeling of ease, strength and flow.
• Step 1: by using visualization, the teenage client can turn bad feelings into objects and remove them
• Step 2: through hypnotic flow, the teenage client gets a perfect booster for their self-healing powers and will feel stronger and in flow after a session.
That’s how we create a life with less anxiety and more strength and flow to move forward.
My name ist Ruth Röthlisberger and I started my own Hypnosis Practice in 2016. When I first started I was mostly working with adults. Over time this changed, and I became more and more specialized in working with kids & teens and their topics around sleep patterns, ADHD and anciety. on top of being a hypnotherapist trained in different kinds of hypnosis from classic hypnosis to non-verbal hypnosis to active alert hypnosis, I also am an ADHD coach and visualization coach. When public speaking, self-doubt, un-resourceful states of mind, and trying to be something you’re not, dramatically increase anxiety and awkwardness in the presenter, thereby literally sabotaging audience connection and satisfaction.
Consider, for a moment, a presenter, an entertainer, or a performer for whom you are full of admiration, respect, and love to listen. What is it about these public speakers and presenters that makes them so successful?
These presenters have certainly mastered the art of multi-level communication and how to use language while assuredly delivering a confident, engaging, and interesting speech.
They are also successful because they have discovered the art of allowing aspects of their personality, nature, mannerisms, and natural look to shine through in a way that engages and stimulates interest and audience connection.
This is why they effortlessly exude self-confidence and are rememberable. It’s very easy for us to fall into a trap and believe that we need to change too much of ourselves to feel comfortable and be successful.
Speaking naturally, in your own words, makes you innovative and interesting.
Jason Simmons is a stage hypnotist, comedian, magician and musician and has been performing in a variety of venues across the UK circuit for more than a decade. Jason Simmons is a regular performer for Haven, Butlins, Park Dean, Pontins, David Lloyd leisure clubs, Mecca bingo halls and many other venues across the United Kingdom. Dr David Spiegel
We’re delighted to announce that our keynote presentation will be delivered by David Spiegel this year!
Hypnosis was the first Western form of psychotherapy, yet it remains underutilized in part because of insufficient understanding of its neural basis. Hypnosis involves highly focused attention, coupled with dissociation of aspects of awareness, an increase in cognitive flexibility, and an enhanced ability to modulate perception.
Considerable evidence has emerged regarding this regarding underlying brain mechanisms, including studies employing event-related potentials, PET and fMRI. Our recent resting state fMRI data demonstrate functional connectivity between the executive control and salience networks among high but not low hypnotizable individuals.
The hypnotic state involves reduced activity in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (key region in the salience network), heightened functional connectivity between the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (executive control network) and the insula, and inverse functional connectivity between the left DLPFC and the posterior cingulate cortex, part of the default mode network. The hypnotic ability to modulate perception has clear clinical application, especially in pain and anxiety control. Randomized clinical trials that we have conducted demonstrate the efficacy of hypnosis in reducing pain, anxiety, somatic complications, and procedure duration during radiological interventions. It has been shown to reduce pain for women with metastatic breast cancer by 50% over the course of a year on similar analgesic medication regimens to those of controls.
Despite this progress in understanding the neural basis of hypnosis, it remains drastically underutilized. For example, some 500,000 Americans have died of opioid overdoses in the past decade, while hypnotic analgesia has been largely ignored. People tend to view hypnosis as either useless (a parlor trick) or dangerous. It is really dangerously effective. We have decided to make hypnosis as widely available as possible by developing a digital interactive hypnosis app, Reveri, downloadable from the App Store and Google Play, with automated programs for testing hypnotizability, and learning how to better cope with stress, focus, pain, insomnia, eating, drinking, and smoking problems. We have some 5,000 users a month from 130 countries. Hypnosis apps have been developed by others.

Incorporating hypnosis into nursing was a challenging endeavour to say the least.
As a surgical nurse I used to accompany patients through one of the most difficult journeys of their lives, dealing with a cancer diagnosis and having surgery all at once.
Nursing in most cases is not a profession, is a calling and for me being there for my patients was a privilege.
When I was reflecting on a day’s work, I felt helpless at times, powerless against death and against complications I couldn’t predict or control, but there was one thing I couldn’t ignore, the effect pain had on my patients and their reaction to morphines when I administered them.
This is how hypnosis appeared into my life and took over the way I thought about nursing.
I would like to share with you my journey from conventional nursing into developing a research study to investigate how hypnosis could be used in colorectal surgery.
The path to researching hypnosis was not an easy one especially within the NHS and I would like to share it with you and hopefully discover together what is possible when you follow your passion.
Ana-Maria Toth is a clinical nurse researcher, working within the NHS. She worked as a nurse in various specialities, became a Junior Sister and entered the research department in a unique role as a nurse researcher, developing her own research study.
She won the Somerset Our Colleagues Research Award for her pioneering research into the potential benefits of hypnosis for patients recovering from colectomy surgery.
Her study has been advertised on ITV West, BBC News Online and BBC Radio Somerset, The Sunday Times and Wales online.

Can your visualisation ability impact your mental health? If so, in what way? Why is this important for us to understand as hypnotherapists?
In this presentation, I will take you on the fascinating journey of imagery extremes (aphantasia and hyperphantasia) and their role in shaping our mental health. Is having vivid mental imagery a pro or a con? What about not having any mental imagery at all? How can mental imagery impact our experiences of trauma? And conversely – how might experiencing trauma impact mental imagery?
Based on research findings and case studies, we will discuss these and other questions.
This presentation will help you better understand how mental imagery may impact your clients’ mental health and how to adjust your therapeutic approach accordingly.
Dr Paulina Trevena is a researcher and hypnotherapist. Paulina, who is neurodivergent with aphantasia and ADHD, specialises in supporting people with these conditions. During her own hypnosis training, she realised having aphantasia was a barrier to experiencing hypnosis – and started a research project into aphantasia and hypnosis. Her mission is to raise awareness of aphantasia and promote best practice in working with clients who have limited or no mental imagery.

In this presentation Ravi Mayar and James Tripp will be showing you how you can create amnesias and other odd experiences, on the fly, using language (and perhaps a dash of non-verbal communication) alone. No trance inductions, just direct ‘mind magic’. But for what purpose? That part will be down to you; we will just be giving you the tools!
James Tripp is a British personal development coach, hypnotherapist, and author known for his unique approach to hypnosis called "Hypnosis Without Trance." His work focuses on helping individuals master their minds, improve personal psychology, and achieve transformative change without relying on traditional trance-based hypnosis techniques. Tripp combines insights from various disciplines, including Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), philosophy, and martial arts, to develop his methods.
He has authored the book Hypnosis Without Trance: How Hypnosis Really Works, which provides practical techniques for facilitating hypnotic phenomena in real-world settings without deep trance induction. His approach has gained popularity among street hypnotists, coaches, and change agents globally. In addition to his writing and coaching, Tripp offers workshops, online courses, and one-on-one sessions to help people develop their personal power and navigate life's challenges.

Ever lost a client to suicide?
This presentation may evoke various emotions, resulting in tears, laughter, and shock, and will provide valuable insights into improving practice. I will share insights into working with challenging clients, including those with PTSD, eating disorders, gender issues, suicidal depressives, psychosis, and more, all while adhering to professional boundaries.
I will discuss lessons learned from both successful outcomes and catastrophic failures, along with moments of realisation and how to navigate the complex landscape of medical and behavioural change communities. Drawing on my academic background as a medical sociologist, I will explore the dynamics between clients and therapists, considering their broader sociological contexts within both their lives and the healthcare system.
Furthermore, I will emphasize the importance of balancing scientific knowledge with creative application in therapy. A competent therapist must skillfully integrate both aspects. My aim is to demonstrate that science and art are not mutually exclusive but rather complement each other, working together effectively.
Known for my dynamic and engaging presentation style, I will inject a healthy dose of humour, but please be aware that the topics addressed at times may be emotionally intense. Consider this a potential trigger warning.

Milton Erickson embodied the 4 archetypes presented in this workshop: magician, lover, warrior, king.
Magician: he was a keen observer, at ease with confusion, elevating hypnosis to the level of an art form. Lover: he provided a compassionate, all-understanding, gentle presence, offering unquestionable love and support. Warrior: he projected a protective, loyal, disciplined and tenacious aura while demonstrating the ability to deal with conflict and handle paradox. King: he excelled as a sovereign creator of order and giver of recognition and blessing.
Explanations and practical exercises will enable participants to understand and appreciate these archetypal energies, which are to be awakened, developed and combined for both the subject and the therapist.
A personal exploration of the archetype’s representation in different forms and expressions will be facilitated. When possible, participants are invited to bring in small objects which they find symbolize these archetypes.
Easily accessible and applicable, the principles and processes presented are readily usable in any therapeutic practice.
Jane Turner is a clinical psychologist working in Paris France as a psychotherapist, coach, trainer and, supervisor. A former President of the French Society of Hypnosis (SFH) she continues to support and encourage the study, development and expansion of clinical hypnosis. Various research results will be presented proving that appropriate communication – called Psychological Support Based on Positive Suggestions – can improve the medical care in various settings: intensive care, eye-surgery, orthopaedic surgery, obstetrics, etc. The effect of these techniques is reflected in various parameters (shorter hospital stay, better cooperation, less medication, reduced side effects etc.).
The approach is based on the observation that the patients in medical settings are in a state very close to the hypnotic state, so any comment may function as a powerful hypnotic suggestion.
In this presentation apart from our research results I will present some of those exercises that we are using in training medical professionals. These exercises are focusing on the importance of rapport, communicating in situations of emotional involvement, use of suggestive techniques in critical situations, applying simple metaphors, etc.
We will also discuss the relevance of these experiences in training professionals (nurses, psychologists, doctors, physiotherapists, etc.).
Dr. Varga is a professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), the head of the Department of Affective Psychology, past president of the Hungarian Association of Hypnosis, board member of the international Society of Hypnosis (ISH), doctor of Academy of Sciences (Dsc). She graduated as psychologist in 1986, and won the Postgraduate Fellowship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1986-1990). Her research topic was the investigation of the subjective experiences connected to hypnosis and the role of suggestions in critical states. She got her degree of “Doctor of University” (ELTE) in 1991, and her PhD degree in 1997 on comparing the subjective and behavioral effects of hypnosis. As a member of the “Budapest hypnosis research laboratory” she is investigating hypnosis in an interactional framework, in the multilevel approach she is focusing on the phenomenological data. From 1996 she has been working with patients of somatic medicine, mostly with critically ill, applying suggestive and hypnosis techniques. Learn a simple yet highly effective technique to ameliorate anxiety, phobias, cravings, and specific activating life situations. Reset the system so that the anxiety and/or activating situation becomes the central nervous system’s cue to go into a state of calm. Talking does not cure anxiety. The nervous system needs to learn how to take itself back to the parasympathetic state.
You will learn the protocol, see it demonstrated, practice it right there in the room, and take a turn being the client so you know exactly what it feels like.

Whichever way you like to explain hypnosis, let’s face it… we all have a different model, which can sometimes be complicated for the client. Also, if you are working with younger clients, you may not want to explain in a scientific explanation for the same reason.
With nearly 20 years of experience as a magician and 15 years of hypnosis, Graham has found what he deems the perfect balance for magical concepts and practicalities that any therapist can use in the therapy room and as a demonstration to the layman, helping to give them a belief in hypnosis and understanding.
Using these techniques can help cement the understanding of what you are trying to explain or help the client relax as you help release their inner child for that moment, allowing for rapport to be at the highest level before any change work.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a complex disorder related to the communication between the brain and body. It causes motor, sensory and cognitive dysfunction, often resulting in non-epileptic seizures, dizziness and poor concentration. People with this diagnosis have been through lots of tests and come under the care of neurologists and psychiatrists, as there are few treatment options available. As FND is a debilitating disorder that is difficult to treat, some people seek help from complementary therapists, including hypnotherapists.
This presentation will discuss the background and research on FND and hypnotherapy treatments that can help. Linda discusses two case studies and reflects on her experiences helping these clients. By the end of the session, hypnotherapists attending will have a greater understanding of FND, be aware of the challenges of working with these clients, and be able to discuss the possible treatments and evaluate practice. Finally, this presentation suggests that by working with FND clients, we can give them and their families hope for the future.

I will demonstrate how breathing techniques can boost the effectiveness of a Hypnotherapy Session.
I will demonstrate an incredibly simple technique to aid with calming the client and boosting their overall sense of well-being.
I will then do some live demonstrations of targeted techniques for helping with issues such as Anxiety, Stress, Pain Management and Smoking.
I will make the session as fun as possible and incorporate a lot of “oh yeah” moments of realisation.
I want to inspire everyone to see breathwork as a powerful tool for good in the hypnotherapist’s armoury.
After working as a stage hypnotist for 10 years my interests turned to using hypnosis for therapy. After completing my training I realised how much breathwork complimented hypnotherapy so introduced breathing techniques into my sessions. After the success of my presentation in 2023 I would love to bring more of this to other therapists.
