UKHC 2025 Speakers: James Tripp – Getting Dirty (and Clean)

One of the most recognisable faces in the UK hypnosis world joins our speaker line-up once again this year. James Tripp will present “Getting Dirty (and Clean)” on Sunday.

The Presentation:
Getting Dirty (and Clean)
The Generative Interplay of Clean Language and Suggestionism in Hypnotic Changework

Back around 2007 I trained in Clean Language and symbolic modelling and, without question, it was something of a game-changer for my client work. Indeed, for the longest time I would say “if you take away all my tools, leave me with Clean Language!”

In the main, the point of working cleanly is to avoid offering ‘content’ (ideas/frameworks etc.) that are a mismatch for the client (both where they are and the kind of outcomes they will value), but there are advantages beyond just that (which we will look at in this session). Generally speaking, the ethos of ‘clean’ is good, but also significantly limiting (especially for ‘suggestionists’ – those informed by the work of Erickson or other ‘post-Nancy’ schools of hypnosis).

Well, for me Clean and Suggestionism are like yin and yang and when woven together in a generative interplay they support and inform each other.

In this session we are looking at how this works via both discussion and demonstration.
