Apply to be a Presenter

Applications Now Open!

We’re thrilled to announce that applications are now open for UKHC26! The deadline for submissions is at the bottom of this page; so don’t wait to seize this opportunity to share your expertise with a global audience of hypnosis professionals.

What We’re Looking For

We aim to deliver a diverse and engaging schedule to our attendees, and we’re looking for presentations that:

  • They are relevant to practising hypnotherapists: Topics can range from practical skills like inductions and therapeutic approaches to academic theories, marketing, or other aspects of running a hypnotherapy practice.
  • Provide actionable strategies: Go beyond just describing a condition – focus on how hypnosis can effectively address it and detail the specific techniques and approaches used to do so.
  • Demos and hands-on techniques: Attendees love live demonstrations and practical takeaways they can use with their clients.
  • Offer fresh perspectives: If you’ve presented before, consider submitting something new to keep our lineup exciting and varied.
  • Reflect the diversity of the field: Whether your approach is scientific or experience-based, theoretical or practical, evidence-based or anecdotal, we welcome your submission.
  • Deliver genuine value rather than sales pitches: If your presentation includes a protocol, technique, or structured approach, it should be outlined in enough detail to be meaningfully useful to delegates. Protocols or techniques should not be presented in a way that limits their application unless attendees pursue further training with you. Presentations must stand alone in value and not serve primarily as promotional opportunities.
  • Credibility: Your presentation must not make unsubstantiated claims or have the potential to bring the field into disrepute. We do not accept presentations on topics where there is compelling evidence to the contrary, for example: Past Life Regression.

Some Guidance

  • Make Multiple Proposals – where possible. Most applications are declined because we were offered multiple presentations on the same topic and only had room for one.
  • Make it for them – Presentations should offer knowledge, skills, and techniques that are designed to educate and empower the audience, not just showcase the skill and experience of the presenter.
  • Make it about Hypnosis – This should be obvious, the clue is in the name of the Convention. Relevant hypnosis business topics, such as marketing, promotion, and legal aspects, are also permitted. If you want to offer a presentation on marketing and promotion, you may be required to provide evidence of its effectiveness.
  • Clinical Applications & Boundaries – You must keep your presentation content within the scope of your clinical hypnotherapy practice and be guided in this by the level of your therapy training, qualification and experience. Please do not make unsubstantiated medical claims or offer to cure or treat conditions beyond the scope of your training. E.g. Unless you are an oncologist, you ought not be making suggestions about the correct course of treatment for the treatment of cancer without strong empirical evidence or qualifications.
  • Ask Us – If you have any questions on the above, or need any other guidance on choosing topics.

What we expect

  • We expect you to cooperate with our efforts to publicise and support your presentation by supplying information and the items mentioned below by the requested deadlines. We give good notice of these, but we will withdraw offers to present where we feel potential presenters have been uncooperative.
  • We expect you to contribute to the marketing of your presentation and the event by publicising the event and allowing us to tag your social media accounts when we post information on your presentation
  • We expect you to provide a short video to advertise your presentation, for us to post on our website and social media channels.
  • We expect you to provide a photograph (head and shoulders shot) of yourself.
  • We expect you to provide a slideshow in Microsoft PowerPoint format for your presentation if you are using one.
  • We expect you to conform to the code of conduct that applies to everyone involved in the event.

If your application is accepted, we may suggest edits to your presentation title to ensure it clearly reflects the content of your talk and helps attendees understand what to expect when viewing the schedule. We may also request additional information or clarification to strengthen your presentation description so potential attendees have a clear sense of what the session will cover and what they are likely to learn.

What you should expect

  • Your application may be declined. We usually get 2-3 times as many applications as we have slots to present them on our schedule, so unfortunately, we have to say no to some. The main reason for this happening is:
    • We had multiple applications covering the same topic and had to pick one
    • The application did not arrive before the deadline
    • You did not read this page, and your presentation clearly does not follow our very broad guidelines.
  • Your application may be shortlisted. We do get some presenters each year who have to withdraw. This has been the case in previous years and so we always need good quality replacements we can call on.
  • Your application may be accepted. We will send you an email with a list of things we need from you immediately and some things we need in the future. These will all have associated and easily achievable deadlines. If you miss a deadline without prior agreement, your presentation may be withdrawn from the schedule.

Presentation Format

Presentations are typically 1 hour long (55 minutes with 5 minutes changeover time). We also have some 30-minute slots (25 minutes with 5 minutes changeover time); please let us know in your application if you’d prefer a shorter session.
