AT HOME WITH DR MILTON H ERICKSON – STEPHANIE KIRKE

AT HOME WITH DR MILTON H ERICKSON - STEPHANIE KIRKE

This lecture will present examples that demonstrate the unique of Erickson's approach when working with his 'patients'. To introduce classic examples that demonstrate his therapeutic use of humour, utility, working effectively with resistance, to encourage and develop conversational trance, the flexible skills of working with the person, rather than on the person. To demonstrate by example the sorts of understanding around hypnosis, that is far removed from scripted work. The use of voice, the use of intension, the seeding of ideas and possibilities. The inclusion of metaphor to heal. To also answer any questions that the audience might have regards Erickson's work.

This presentation will enable an opportunity to learn something of value from listening, observing, and interacting experientially throughout the presentation. To then motivate the audience to want to learn more at a later date. To be motivated to introduce something of benefit to the everyday practise of members in the audience. To have an enjoyable time all round.

I take examples of the knowledge of how Milton Erickson worked with people, directly from the learning experiences of those who knew Milton Erickson e.g.Ernie Rossi, Jeff Zeig, Bill O'Hanlon, & Jay Haley. I can integrate pictures and a short video recording I took of Robert Erickson (2014) with Jeff also, at 1201 E. Hayward Ave. These represent direct experiences taken from studying in the home of Milton H Erickson.
